Gujarat Garment Policy

Gujarat Garment Policy

Incentives and subsidies for garment and apparel manufacturers under Gujarat's dedicated garment policy framework — capital subsidy, employment benefits, and technology support.

Policy Overview

Garment & Apparel Policy — Key Highlights

Gujarat's dedicated garment policy focuses on making the state a preferred destination for apparel manufacturing — with emphasis on employment generation, technology adoption, and export growth. The policy covers ready-made garments, fashion apparel, technical apparel, and workwear segments.

With Surat being Asia's largest synthetic textile hub, the policy provides a strong ecosystem for garment manufacturers to integrate backward (fabric) and forward (retail/export) linkages. JSV Consultancy has assisted multiple garment units in Surat and Ahmedabad in claiming these benefits.

Eligibility Criteria

Unit must be manufacturing garments, apparel, or apparel accessories
Udyam Registration mandatory for MSME category benefits
Minimum employment of 50 workers required for employment-linked incentives
Women workers must constitute at least 70% of workforce for women-specific benefits
CAD/CAM and automation investments must be on new approved machines
Export-oriented units must have AD (Authorized Dealer) Code and IEC registration
Application must be filed within 12 months of commencing commercial production

Employment Generation Benefit

One of the most significant garment policy benefits — directly linked to the number of workers you employ:
